Coming straight off the back of his collaboration with Chase & Status on ‘Funny’, taken from their ‘London Bars Vol. 1’ project which dropped last month, Frisco reveals his latest single/music video ‘Different Kind’ featuring Shakka.
The single is being released via Boy Better Know and as the name suggests, the track is definitely something ‘different’ for Big Fris as he takes on an unexpected rock beat. Shakka, the latest artist to be signed to DJ Target & Danny Weed’s Sony imprint label Pitched Up, brings the liquid gold on the hook and Frisco’s gritty tone works amazingly next to the bass guitar and drums.
The video for ‘Different Kind’, premiered on The Fader, is the perfect accompaniment to this energetic track. The spotlight is on Frisco and Shakka in this stripped-back video, set in a vacant warehouse, and with their charismatic performances it is clear to see how much these artists enjoy working together.
Individually and as part of the biggest grime collective, Boy Better Know, Frisco has an impressive legacy within the scene. 4 mixtapes, 2 E.P’s and an album make up his solo discography; verses on collective BBK tracks, such as ‘Too Many Man’ & ‘Shaky’ sit alongside a multitude of classic grime hits that he has featured on and you cannot help but be impressed by when you type his name in to YouTube, whilst his eruption on to the circuit back in 2003 stems back to his legendary battle with the Godfather, Wiley.
The legacy continues with his most recent venture as he has successfully launched ‘The Den’ at the Old Blue Last in London; a monthly event rammed full of grime and UK Hip Hop and the most exciting acts, it has become THE destination for music lovers to take it all in.
What else can we say, there’s just something ’Different’ about Frisco.
