If anyone was a strong candidate for a JUNO nomination that didn’t get a nod, it was Peter Jackson. The 9-0 Nickel CEO and artist has continued to take leaps and bounds in elevating his game and shaping the landscape of the Canadian Hip Hop scene. Aside from continuing to play a large role in a good chunk of the tours that we’re lucky to get in Canada, PJ has steadily built a catalogue of strong releases including his acclaimed Since I Was 16 album which dropped last year.
The Rap Recording of the Year category only has five spots to work with and the competition is fierce, especially in a year where Drake has dominated charts and set more world records in music. With songs like ‘Mind Blown’ laying the foundation for his next album, PJ should be a strong contender for the category in next year’s running.
The new single, which is HipHopCanada’s Song of the Day, features ‘Hustle Hard’ rapper Ace Hood and Venezuelan-Canadian singer-songwriter, Jay Vado. It was produced by Metcalfe Productions and Dhanie.
Look out for Peter Jackson’s New Album – ‘Straight Out Of High School’ – April 2016.
