RAY BLK ft. Stormzy – My Hood (Audio/iTunes/27th May)

Delivering the brash honesty of rap music, with her unique blend of soul and R&B spirit, RAY BLK returns with her new single ‘My Hood’ featuring grime heavy-weight Stormzy.

The track was premiered this week by Mistajam as his ‘Inbox Fresh’, and online this morning via FADER.

Lifted from her forthcoming self-released project ‘Everybody Loves Ray’, the track explores RAY BLK’s relationship with her neighborhood, South London to be specific.

“This track is an ode to where I’m from, It’s a bittersweet song about home. South East is one of the roughest places in London but it rears the strongest people because of that and that’s what makes us special”, explains RAY BLK.

Produced by Courage, ‘My Hood’ follows last year’s release of ’50/50’ which went on to receive support both online and across the airwaves by Annie Mac, Julie Adenuga, Mistajam and Huw Stephens to name a few. Premiered by I-D Magazine, the visual for ‘50/50′ depicted RAY BLK and her all-girl mob hanging out in her native Catford, from the streets to the salon, as she tells the tale of a rocky relationship with a drug dealer with commitment issues. The Aston Rudi-produced track snowballed in popularity with support across media platforms such as Complex, Noisey, HypeTrak and MTV.

RAY BLK recently played her first SOLD OUT Headline Show at London’s Hoxton Bar & Kitchen which not only included a phenomenal set from RAY BLK herself, but also guest appearances from the likes of Avelino, Kojey Radical and Stormzy. Her next live performance will see her support Katy B at Brixton Academy on May 14th.
