DROPPERZ (Brand New Grime Mockumentary Launching On ITV2/02nd Nov)

The grime scene is currently the most important sub-culture in Britain. Those leading the way are inspirational and defining success for artists. From Skepta winning the Mercury Awards to Stormzy shutting down Thorpe Park for his birthday, things have never been so good.

That’s unless you’re part of the Dropperz crew! The grime collective are struggling and have one last shot at success before they get, well, erm, dropped. Using their record label boss’s house as the backdrop for their much-needed video, the band soon find themselves in hot water when their dog kills the much-loved family pet rabbit. Dropperz have a problem. They still have to record their music video but must also find a replacement rabbit, the question is can they do both?

Brought to you by Purple Geko (The Intent, Venus vs Mars, Random Acts), the mockumentary is packed with comedy and the cast have been perfectly selected, not only for their skills as actors but for their relationship to grime.

Meet the cast:

Taking the lead role is BAFTA award winning actor Adam Deacon, (who has previously released his own music, including dropping his own Crib Session with Tim Westwood), and was described by Time Out as ,

“The new face of youth cinema”.

Dropperz will be his first project back since his much-publicized issues with Noel Clarke and diagnosis with mental health.

Starring alongside is Kiell Smith-Bynoe, who is renowned for his comedy roles within the digital space and appeared on a remix of the grime anthem ‘German Whip’.

Guz Khan’s ‘Big Gib’ completes the Dropperz line up. Guz recently created and played the lead in his own TigerAspect produced BBC3 comedy pilot ‘Man Like Mobeen’ and hosts the Saturday Breakfast Show on BBC Asian Network.

The official crew groupie ‘Kelly’ played by Letitia Hector, who was the lead in Purple Geko’s Sky Living show ‘Venus vs. Mars’ and prior to her acting career was previously a radio DJ at ‘Bang Radio’.

Executive Produced by Victor Adebodun and Femi Oyeniran, who is a committed supporter of the UK urban scene and providing a platform for talent to shine, he says:

“At Purple Geko we are committed to creating diverse scripted content and working with fresh talent. New writer Ed Wiles’ ‘Dropperz’ exemplifies this commitment, with BAFTA award winning actor Adam Deacon spearheading a cast of new onscreen talent. This project with ITV marks an exciting time for us, as we continue to grow and build on our expertise of producing authentic youth-skewed content for broadcasters and online platforms”.
