Avelino drops the video for his new single ENERGY

The cut has set media alight with support hailing from titles Pitchfork, Fader, NOISEY, FACT, i-D, Dazed, Hunger, Pigeons & Planes and many more.

The Tottenham rapper opens the video staking his ownership of ‘ENERGY’, spitting with his trademark flow and unmistakable dexterity. Directed by Oliver Jennings (Nines, Tinie Tempah, Newham Generals, Wiley) with Ed Hubert (Nines, Reebok) in tow providing the cinematography; the slick apace montage of lo-fi 35mm footage captures Avelino as he rolls around North London accompanied by long-time friends, grime trailblazer Stormzy and Mercury Prize-winner Skepta. ‘ENERGY’ marks the first track to feature verses from both grime heavyweights.

Bringing their heat to the beat, the high-octane trio spit their verses in a host of North London venues; fusing spliced live footage with shots of heaving dancefloors to culminate in a visual that echoes the mantra #NOBADENERGY.

After bubbling away on the UK underground rap scene, Avelino’s breakthrough came with the release of his debut mixtape; leading to a coveted support slot on Stormzy’s first UK tour and a phenomenally successful collaborative mixtape with Wretch 32, Young Fire Old Flame.

Ever-prolific, Avelino has consistently released cuts showcasing his innate lyricism and innovative productions. His 2016 F.Y.O EP received support from a wealth of tastemaker publications including Pigeons & Planes, HUNGER, FACT, Complex and more. This support saw the Tottenham rapper be nominated for Best Newcomer at the MOBO Awards and be named on BBC 1Xtra’s Hot for 2017 list.
