DMX returns with new music showcasing Asian rapper C-Tru, the legendary rapper’s comeback coincides with the come up of a new Hip Hop artist
‘The Dog in Me‘ is a fitting title to the new track from legendary New York rapper DMX and Los Angeles-based Hip Hop artist C-Tru. Rap fans have been eagerly anticipating the release of DMX’s comeback album ever since news outlets in January received word from Ruff Ryders’ chart-topping producer Swizz Beatz that the album was in the works. This is the second new DMX track to be released this year following ‘Bane Iz Back’ which was dropped in early January to much hype and fanfare.
When asked whether people might see this as an odd pairing between the multi-platinum album selling veteran Hip Hop artist and the yet to be discovered Filipino-American rapper, C-Tru responded,
“Music is universal. And the music we made speaks for itself. My race and newcomer status in the rap game was a non-issue because me and X really vibed in the studio, and he saw me as an artist first. We ended up creating powerful, impactful music”.
The track is produced by DJ Swissivory and also features singer Tariah. The track and music video release accompanies the ‘Ruff Ryders – Reunion Tour’ concert at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, where DMX will once again make Hip Hop history alongside Eve, Swizz Beatz and the Lox when they reunite to perform their biggest hits.
C-Tru is a successful Hip Hop artist/singer-songwriter with a resume of work that includes #1 albums in Europe and Asia. He first gained attention winning the national Energizer Freestyle Music Competition in 2007 and was crowned grand champion by Grammy winning rapper Chamillionaire. With a growing reputation for his unique sound, he has worked with superstar artists including DMX and Snoop Dogg for his upcoming music projects.
