J Hus recently released the visual for BOUFF DADDY, the track is lifted from his mercury prize nominated Album, COMMON SENSE, which is certified Gold, selling over 100,000 units in the UK
Hot off an epic performance last night for his highly anticipated London show at the O2 Brixton Academy, J Hus returns with the release of his picturesque visual for ‘Bouff Daddy’. Watch HERE. Currently on his European Tour, Hus delivered a spectacular set to a crowd of 5,000 strong and impressed both media and fans alike. To celebrate the night fans also got the opportunity to get an early sneak peek at the visual for ‘Bouff Daddy’ exclusively via Shazam to unlock.
Set in Portugal and directed by FIL FURY, the visual for ‘Bouff Daddy’ is a spirited representation of J Hus’ charismatic personality and full of vibes reflective of the song.
“I was excited to follow up on the Common Sense album cover art I created, with a J HUS X FILFURY video. My desire was to elevate the project and HUS to iconic status, an approach that pushes what is expected and cements HUS as a new creative force. This was a celebration – J HUS in the sun, enjoying the good life, cars, girls, the mandem, saturated hues, vintage Versace, and some FILFURY symmetrical graphic composition work” says FIL FURY.
‘Bouff Daddy’ is a straight-up banger, as Hus leans and bops over JAE5’s playful beat.
“In my area, bouff means money, so whenever I go back to my area, everyone’s like ‘the bouff man, the bouff Daddy’,” explains Hus of the title. “A lot of the words I use, people might not know what they mean, so you have to listen to the music to catch on, to work it out. To me, it’s normal, it’s just how we’ve always spoken in east London”.
Hus was recently nominated for a staggering 4 awards at this year’s MOBO Awards, leading the way with Stormzy for most nominations. Including Best Male, Best Album, Best Song (DUS) and Best Video (Spirit), the show is set for November 29th at the First Direct Arena in Leeds. Hus recently performed at 1xtra Live in Manchester alongside Travis Scott, French Montana, Bryson Tiller and more.
Debut album ‘Common Sense’ came in at No. 6 on The Official Charts, and has since spent many weeks in the Top Ten selling an impressive 100k+ units to date and now certified Gold. The album joins the company of previous 2017 UK breakthroughs including Rag N Bone Man (#1) and Stormzy (#2). Top Ten single ‘Did You See’ is now officially certified as Platinum, having sold well over 600,000 units. The visual has had over 42 million views and an impressive 78 million plus combined Spotify and Apple Music streams for the audio.
Boasting an ebullient blend of Dancehall, Afrobeat, Grime, Rap, Garage and R&B, ‘Common Sense’ is a musical revelation, an emotional rollercoaster ride into the inner musings of an inner-city musician. As well as his signature sound – some say UK Afrobeats, others AfroGrime – there are nods to others influences too. Production over the entire album comes from Hus and long-term collaborator JAE5, with additional production on select tracks by Tiggs, Show & Prove, The Compozers, Mark Crown, TSB, and iO.
