London, UK based Singer/Songwriter and Aftershock crew’s leading lady Gemma Fox gives us a sneak peek into GRIME VOCALS ARCHIVE, with tracks previously unheard, unreleased and released material carefully extracted from the vault for your listening pleasure
‘Grime Vocals Archive’ is filled with classic tracks comprising Highly Flammable and Messy alongside features including heavyweights, Lethal Bizzle, JME, Dutty Goodz, Ears, Tinchy Stryder, Tnt, Davinche, Menta, Heartless Crew and Sweetie Irie.
Legendary Grime pioneer DJ Logan Sama commented on the impact Fox made, “With the resurgence in original Grime recently, it would not be fair to overlook the vocalist’s whose voices added a sweet contrast to the rough bars during the earliest days of the genre. You cannot talk about Grime vocalists without hailing up Gemma Fox who’s earliest works alongside groundbreaking producers such as Youngsta, Alias, Dexplicit, and TNT. It takes a special skill to be able to sound at home over the type of aggressive and energetic riddims you found in Grime between 2002 and 2004. Gemma had that in abundance”.
Having made her big break on the music scene in the mid-noughties as a singer/songwriter, Gemma Fox’s first project of 2018 is here in the form of ‘Grime Vocals Archive’, and acts as a warm-up to a busy year as she looks to release a Niche EP that is slated to be released in the next few weeks, so expect big things to come in the near future!
To complement this and to give the world a reminder or taster of the wide range of her singer/songwriter versatility, ‘Grime Vocals Archive’ captures her appreciation for the scene she was a big part of in the genres early days.
Listen to ‘Might Be’, ‘Superwoman’ & ‘Girlfriend’ below taken from the new EP.
