London, UK-based emcee and producer Funky DL takes the 2018 stage with his new, creatively unique track and video SETTING THE SCENE, taken from his upcoming album, BLACKCURRENT JAZZ 3
In the exciting countdown to Funky DL’s newly announced and eagerly awaited ‘Blackcurrent Jazz 3’ album, expected June the 29th 2018, DL drops some brand new audio with a comic-styled video for one of the album tracks, entitled ‘Setting The Scene’. Often praised for his distinctive and vivid storytelling abilities, Funky DL explains on the track, the elaborate events occurring over a 48 hour period, after meeting what turns out to be a highly nefarious woman. Packed with color, motion, and dialogue, this video showcases the uniqueness that is Funky DL – an artist who is focused primarily on the quality and intricacy of his creativity and who is not only interested in making music but moreover in making true, great and memorable art.
After emerging into the Hip Hop game with his debut album ‘Classic Was The Day‘ back in 1997, Funky DL has gone on to become one of the UK’s most prolific artists. With a legendary status touring Japan as a master of Jazz and Hip Hop, DL has independently released a slew of solid albums under his self-run label Washington Classics – remixing for Missy Elliot and Keith Sweat as well as tour support for Eminem, Destiny’s Child, and The Roots. From sharing the mic with Nas and Pete Rock in live radio freestyle sessions to reworking entire albums such as Amy Winehouse’s ‘Back To Black’ and Nas’ catalog, DL has proven he is as capable on the boards as he is on the mic. His music collaborations with the late Nujabes are highly revered worldwide and his self-owned audio inventory is a huge library reflecting the work ethic he has carried over so many years.
Be sure to check out his new album release ‘Blackcurrent Jazz 3’ on June the 29th.
