NYC based emcee, producer, and lyricist EB Rebel shares gritty and impactful new visuals for her new track 12, taken from her upcoming EP, MAMA, I’M OK
EB Rebel’s biting new release ’12’ comes off of her forthcoming EP ‘Mama, I’m OK,’ coming after the success of EB’s first EP, ‘Trance‘. Garnering notable praise from The Dallas Observer and AFROPUNK among others, it also landed a spot in the critically acclaimed BET documentary ‘Stay Woke‘, with director Laurens Grant exclaiming EB as,
“A talent to watch”.
It all started in 2014 when, after graduating from college with a BS in Legal Studies, EB Rebel became inspired to start making music. Thanks to the plummeting economy and a burning desire to create, EB Rebel decide to skip law school to become a Hip Hop artist. After submitting her music to the Raw Dallas showcase committee, and getting a response almost instantly, EB was convinced that this was her true calling.
The inspiration behind ‘Mama, I’m OK’ came when Rebel moved from her hometown of Dallas, TX to the big city of NYC. The records on this project are a glance at EB Rebel’s thoughts during her first year in NY; the emotions that come with being away from family and following her dreams. Pair the new changes with old, menacing mental health issues (she has a history of anxiety and depression) and you have a complex project of highs and the lows. This project is meant to bring attention to mental illness and to remind people to take care of that part of themselves.
‘Mama, I’m OK’ EP will be released on May 18th.
