Los Angeles, CA-based rapper Neaks recently released his latest track THAT ISH, with the visual directed by Luca Brinciotti
The LA-based rapper/singer/dancer, who has secured fashion accounts from LA to Tokyo with his Tastemaker Collective team and is currently finishing his debut EP, shakes up the Hip Hop scene in fall 2018 with a track that unites a rock-like chord progression with a raw urban Hip Hop vibe. In ‘That Ish’ Neaks speaks on staying true to his day one crew and how where they came from is playing a part in their success. Over ReckShop’s rock-like beat progression and hard drums, he puts his lyrical abilities to good use on his new song ‘That Ish’, a rebellious celebration that we can all relate to.
“The shit we makin is the shit we gettin paid from, party wit my day ones, that’s an everyday son…the shit we came from mold me everyday y’all…”
Neaks gives us an honest insight into his own struggles and reminds us to celebrate our wins no matter how large or small they may be.
“Celebrating a small win can generate enough energy to create a whole wave”, says Neaks.
Neaks’ previous release, ‘Deep In The Soul‘, had a much funkier/experimental sound than the edgy ‘That Ish’, but Neaks has the range to pull it off. The contrast of dim-lit scenery to the colourful LA urban streets depicted in ‘That Ish’ describes the visual contrast of this new punk-rap LA scene quite well.
Iconic Director, Luca Brinciotti really personifies Neaks’ style and mindstate through mind-warping effects and emotionally contrasting scenes. The emotional journey Neaks takes in this video allows it to work as another new-school kind of rebellious rock-influenced song, full of high energetic tension.
