Nigerian recording artist Mr Eazi recently released his new mixtape LIFE IS EAZI VOL. 2 – LAGOS TO LONDON, accompanied by the visual to the track CHICKEN CURRY, featuring Sneakbo & Just Sul

Mr Eazi returns to level out and one-up the playing field with a meaty collection of Bankufied magic on ‘Life is Eazi Vol. 2 – Lagos to London’, his third and most accomplished studio offering. The mixtape is out now. Eazi also releases a comical video to single ‘Chicken Curry’ featuring rapper Sneakbo and Instagram sensation ‘Just Sul’.

Ahead of this release, Eazi teamed up with global video streaming service YouTube Music, to recreate the Lagos To London artwork – a yellow double-decker bus. This symbolised two of the most recognisable forms of transport from both cities (London bus & Nigerian Danfo taxi).

Recorded between the cities of Lagos and London, and in-between sell-out shows and exciting collaborations with the likes of some of the UK’s finest – Giggs, Sneakbo and Lotto Boyzz, this follow-up to Life is ‘Eazi Vol. 1 – Accra to Lagos’ is a crackling marker of a progressive, stellar career.

The fifteen songs on this set are arranged such that the listener’s taken on an exclusive and trippy ride down coastal avenues and uptown highways.

Simi’s songwriting prowess manifests light on ‘Surrender’, while Afrobeats’ grand-don Tuface makes a welcome appearance on ‘Suffer Head’, which takes a leaf from Sister Nancy and breathes West African flair to her timeless classic, ‘Bam Bam’. Fela gets a nod on the Azonto-leaning ‘Open and Close’, while Burna Boy is invited to cast out bad spells and soothe the heart on ‘Miss You Bad’. Reggae Revival lynchpin Chronixx utters righteous vibrations of love and understanding on the nice an’ easy charm of ‘She Loves Me’. Elsewhere are ‘Keys to the City’ [Ogede], ‘Property’ (alongside South African band Mi Casa’s Mo-T), and ‘London Town’, where the Landlord Giggs spits bars alongside Mr Eazi’s urgent-sounding licks that warn informants and bad minds to quit acting tough on ‘London Town’.

The production is just as varied; Zimbabwe’s Simba Tagz can be found twisting knobs along Ghana’s GuiltyBeatz, while London resident and long-term Afrobeats innovator Juls withers the wires and connects dots with Nigeria’s own heat-crafters, Sarz and E kelly. UK-based producers FredAgain, Jae5, Alistair and Jay Weathers also contribute their audio tricks to enhance the resultant magic.

Banku transcends borders, slang, genre; it’s a chef’s special, a delightful treat and a pleasurable sensation fit for audio scholars and curious sonic tourists to consume. Kenyan Sheng and Naija Pidgin blend with London street talk and Jamaican Patois; area codes melt into vibrant one-street carnivals and arena-sized jump offs; hyperlocal beats tease the world stage — Grime becomes Azonto, which backtracks into dancehall and Afrobeats. Highlife, nu-age RnB and genre-less musical expressions bend Mr Eazi’s gleeful spirit and redirect it via busy metropoles where danfo taxis and double-decker buses rule the motorways.

Raw, live and direct from the heart, ‘Life is Eazi Vol. 2 – Lagos to London’ is going to stand the test of time, and perhaps surpass it.
