London based Grime/Garage legend Maxwell D recently released his latest track TAP OUT, featuring Los Angeles based artists Ruwanga
The legendary grime/garage godfather Maxwell D has come through with another certified banger ‘Tap Out’ with the same deep delivery and hard-hitting flow that originally catapulted him to fame in 2001. Featuring U.S. record producer and songwriter, Ruwanga, the track is a contemporary take on Maxwell’s earthy, garage-infused style which harks back to the roots of grime and UK rap as we know it.
Originally known for his 2001 viral hit ‘Serious’ that instantly put him on the map as one of the first and more talented dance/rap artists coming out of London – the track is a classic UK banger to this day which you’ll still hear banging in the London clubs. Maxwell also made a name for himself for his place in ‘Pay As You Go Cartel’ alongside further grime legends Wiley, DJ Target, DJ Ace, Plague, Genius and Gods Gift, who many credit as the original creators of grime. The group gained a huge underground following, resulting in chart-topping hits such as their debut single ‘Champagne Dance’.
Although the group ended up splitting, Maxwell has not stopped, having stints with UK national treasure, Ms Dynamite and US megastar Ludacris on the one number smash hit ‘Southern Hospitality’ as well as releasing yet another viral hit in 2009 with ‘Blackberry Hype’ that became a catalyst for the Blackberry phone craze in all young teens. He’s also been featured on the soundtracks of various movies including the extremely successful Hollywood animation ‘Ted’, starring Mark Walberg and Mila Kunis.
As of recent Maxwell has teamed up with Sharky Major’s Grime Original’s, reconnecting with his OG family of grime legends including Lethal Bizzle, Ghetts, Jammer, Fumin, Wiley, Manga, Dj Target, Rude Kid etc, getting involved in events and shows that showcase the true godfathers of grime. He also featured on the official Allstar Grime Originals remix alongside Sharky Major, Manga, Fumin and Bruza which did the rounds on socials going viral on influential platforms like SBTV, Link Up TV and GRM Daily, proving as a successful trip down memory lane and showing that these icons still have overwhelming power in today’s climate. Maxwell D is coming through with all guns blazing, and this track shows no signs of him slowing down for his epic year ahead.
