Bay Area-based recording artist Chow Mane recently dropped his new album SIMMERING, featuring Sahih Rankz, oksami, Jordan Garrett & LURID

Like a top chef, Bay Area rapper and producer Chow Mane is known for his diverse, unorthodox, but carefully crafted pieces. Sometimes sweet and sometimes bitter (but always tasty), the flavors in Chow Mane’s music range from psychedelic and melodic to gritty and raw. Chow Mane combines infectious delivery, playful vocals, and complete soundscapes to create a fine balance between West Coast Hip Hop and experimental pop.

Chow Mane’s 2017 debut EP, ‘Mooncakes‘, has been considered a landmark release in Asian-American Hip Hop. A string of subsequent singles ranging from lo-fi R&B to bouncy trap have solidified Chow as a refreshing, versatile artist and has seen support by the likes of such heavyweight tastemakers as Earmilk, HypeBeast, and HipHopDX.

Lead single Tasty! is a gritty, tongue-in-cheek banger, which perfectly carries off the energy from the introduction and titular track ‘SIMMERING’. A recurrent theme in Chow Mane’s music is the ability to weave humor with seriousness, as well masterfully applied nods to Asian-American culture.

Speaking to the motivations behind ‘SIMMERING’, Chow Mane shares: “‘SIMMERING’ is structured like a 3-course meal, with an appetizer, a main course, and a dessert. Each meal provides songs which hit on different flavors – a sweet love song, a bitter breakup song, a salty banger, spicy bars, etc. When it comes to my music, I’m comfortable in a lot of different spaces, and I’m always trying to dabble in whatever sounds good. Whether it be lo-fi melodic pop songs or West Coast Hip Hop seasoned with punchlines, the music is undeniably tasty”.
