By the late 80’s, Hip Hop was on its way to becoming a male-dominated art form – enter Salt-N-Pepa, an all-female rap crew that went on to define the genre.
After forming in 1985, Salt-N-Pepa released their first album ‘Hot, Cool & Vicious’ in 1987. Featuring classic tunes like ‘Push It’, ‘The Showstopper, and Tramp’, the album sold more than 1 million copies worldwide, making the group the first female rap act to achieve gold and platinum status. This marked the beginning of a record-breaking career.
Over the years, Salt-N-Pepa went on to sell over 15 million records worldwide, making them one of the best-selling female rap acts of all time. To top of this monumental achievement, the rap crew have also garnered a glittering array of awards, one of which is a highly coveted Grammy Award, have released groundbreaking singles ‘Shoop’, ‘Whatta Man’, and ‘Let’s Talk About Sex’, and have broken down doors for women in Hip Hop along the way.
Now, Salt-N-Pepa are heading to indigo at The O2 to deliver a high-energy night of party anthems and golden Hip Hop tunes. This is an unmissable event for true Hip Hop fans!
