London, UK based producer J Rick recently dropped the visual to his latest track GONE, filmed on location in Egypt
Producer and rising star of UK music J Rick returns with his second single ‘Gone’. The song comes as a follow up from his debut single ‘Short’. The visual, which was premiered via Noisey, directed by Armin Druzanovic, serves as an abstract representation of J Rick’s time in Egypt, capturing the true beauty of the city as well as the essence of the song perfectly. The track begins with a sample of a conversation between J Rick’s uncle and British Boxer Errol Christie and ‘Mad’ Frankie Fraser of the Kray Twins and evolves into a dance floor track mixed with a Pastor’s sample, culminating in a Burial Esque final third.
“In this video, we were trying to represent different emotions and feelings and I knew Egypt would have those dynamics. Cairo is a mad bustling city, the call to prayer is mad beautiful. People are respectful and polite and the street kids are tecky and are mad smarter than you. I wanted to show what a mostly Islamic city really looks like and not what people desperately try to convey online” says J Rick.
J Rick’s uncle Errol Christie released an autobiography titled ‘How I Put The Black In The Union Jack’ including growing up in Coventry alongside the National Front, his early boxing career through to his successes and post-fight careers in white-collar boxing, comedy, and other areas. His mantra was ‘No Retreat No Surrender’ which J Rick has tattooed across his stomach and is both the inspiration and title of his forthcoming mixtape.
