London, UK based recording artist J.A.E recently released her new track POISON, featuring South London emcee Dotty, via Mindlab Recordings

Burgeoning London based soul singer and songwriter J.A.E (pronouncing each individual letter) has officially unveiled her brand new single ‘Poison‘ featuring exciting rap talent Dotty. It follows her 2018 single ‘Love Me Right’ and the subsequent remixes which hit top 10 on Traxsource Soulful House chart.

This latest release is an honorable nod to the nineties era and the sounds that made it special. That nostalgic neo-soul vibe, with undertones of soul and jazz, serve as the canvas for J.A.E’s sultry, seductive vocals, the likes of Erykah Badu and D’Angelo would be proud. A sound rooted in soul, she touches base with both Hip Hop and R&B realms.

Behind the emotive production, lies J.A.E’s knack for sincere songwriting. ‘Poison’ speaks on the depiction of a woman making amends with another when things were supposed to be against them. While it’s a message about the dangers of men being unfaithful and the trouble it can bring to everyone involved, Dotty’s endearing guest verse adds balance, speaking for all the men trying to do right.

“I wrote poison based on personal experiences of girls showing hostility to their fellow females because their boyfriends were showing interest and being unfaithful. It’s a playful take on the confidence I have that situations like this can be diffused easily when you are grown and understanding about it”.

Starting her musical journey as a poet under the alias of Jae Poet, J.A.E perpetuated her self-named concept whilst completing her degree in 2013, merging music with poetry to create ‘Moetry’. Her love of sound and performing developed early, growing rapidly throughout her youth when she attended the prestigious performing art schools Italia Conti and the Blackheath Conservatoire.

Though still in her infancy as an artist, J.A.E has already worked with top-notch talent, the likes of west London artist, producer and DJ, p-rallel and go-to production maestro ATG. With over 54,000 plays on Soundcloud collectively, regular spins on Pulse88 FM and Reprezent Radio and gracing stages at The House of Vans and Acoustic Live UK, she is propped to be another hot prospect in a very strong UK R&B scene.

J.A.E is currently working on her debut EP with an exciting array of artist collaborations at hand and production within the London scene and beyond so we can anticipate some heat really soon.
