East London emcees Mikill Pane drops his highly anticipated second album THE NIGHT ELM ON MARE STREET PT.1

With his first release of the year ‘The N.E.O.M.S.‘ going down a storm, acclaimed UK rapper Mikill Pane is finally returning to flexing his lyrical weight and claim his place in the game with the release of his highly anticipated second album ‘The Night Elm on Mare Street Pt.1’.

Releasing as a two-part project, the first installment of this major release comes in 8 tracks deep and features notable names in the scene including Mercston and Oscar World Peace, alongside comedian and national treasure Romesh Ranganathan.

It’s a welcomed return for Mikill, with his last full release ‘Blame Miss Barclay’ having been released as far back as 2013. But this is a much more evolved sound from the Hackney bred rapper. Denoted from the title, a play on the iconic 1984 horror flick, the album incorporates a plethora of throwback sounds, taking inspiration from the 80’s era in which he was born in.

Songs like ‘Cut From A Different Cloth’, ‘What Have We Become’ and ‘I Want To Have A Conversation’ amongst others are constructed on the foundation of nostalgic synths and play host to Mikill’s clarity and renowned storytelling ability. You also get songs like ‘Mike’s Back’ and ‘Cut Patterns’, which are crafted with raw and edgy verses which don’t fall short of standout, inventive wordplay, and menacing flow.

Giving his sentiments on the new project, Mikill stated: “‘The Night Elm on Mare Street’ is a lot more personal a record than its predecessor, Blame Miss Barclay. While my debut contained only a handful of songs about my life, both ‘The N.E.O.M.S’. Part I and Part II are completely made up of songs that focus on my own roots and the branching out that I’ve done. 80s music, both through commercial songs and movie/TV soundtracks and scores, had a massive impact on me and I consider it the foundation of my creativity, so the production had to reflect that”.

A stalwart in UK rap, Mikill Pane delivers with every new release and ups the levels each time. It comes as no surprise then that his art has garnered fans across the board, from Ed Sheeran to P Money. He delivers on his promise with this new project and then some and the anticipation for the latter half is at an all-time high.
