UK based recording artist NAHLI recently released her debut EP, THERAPY [SIDE A], a perfect slice of pop-soul via ALKMY Records, the new label from pioneer Grime producer DaVinChe

Dealing in distinctly tangible themes of toxic love, ‘Therapy [Side A]’ provides a detailed account of anguish and heartbreak. First up, former single ‘Relapse’, a moody but elegant symphony of lyrics, vocal, and rhythm; polished and perfectly mid-tempo with just the right amount of bounce. ‘Daddy Issues’ features guest vocals from DaVinChe and delivers smooth, jazz-infused bass riffs drenched in swelling atmospherics.

Speaking about the track, NAHLI said,

“Daddy Issues is a really sore one for me. I’ve always had a bit of an odd relationship with my Dad which had a knock-on effect on my future relationships and I accepted way too much bullshit”.

On ‘Blake’, NAHLI delivers murkier, confessional lyrics relating to longing and heartache and sinks her teeth into some stripped back, cascading guitar melody. Similar themes of forgotten intimacy and raw honesty reveal themselves on the smooth ‘F.Y.M [***K You More]’ whilst on the fiery closing track ‘Mama’s Boy’, NAHLI brushes off any unwelcome memories of past love affairs by unloading some pent up, uncensored emotion. The sleek harmony between the distorted synths and string section eventually crescendos, further symbolising a resounding sense of acceptance in finality.

Summing it up, NAHLI says, “Time heals all wounds. This EP healed mine”.

‘Therapy Side A’ follows her 2018 debut single, ‘Say Nothin’’, co-produced by DJ/producer/writer Reiss (Ghetts, Shakka), but most will have already heard NAHLI’s voice, thanks to features on massive UK Garage tunes like Rude Kid’s ‘Please Don’t’ and Conducta’s ‘Only U’. Press support so far includes Echoes Magazine, The Hype Magazine, Conversations About Her, Hypefresh, Trench, Guestlist, StereoFox, L’Art Magazine, House Of Solo Mag and Hunger TV. Via her features, Nahli has been playlisted on Spotify’s New Music Friday UK & Grime Shutdown, plus her last single ‘Relapse’ was added to their R&B UK, Slow Jamz, and Rhythm & Groove by DJ Taro. ‘Say Nothin’ was also added to Apple’s ‘Best of the Week’ playlist across multiple territories. Her mentor and manager is pioneering record producer DaVinChe who has the Midas touch when it comes to developing artists across genres. He has written and produced with an eclectic list of giants such as Lily Allen, Example, Jess Glynn, Professor Green, Estelle, Jamilia, Tinie Tempah, Tinchie Stryder, Stormzy, Skepta, Giggs, AJ Tracey, Kano, Wiley, Wretch 32, Etta Bond, Mahalia, Bugsy and Young T, and even recently co-produced for Kele from Bloc Party.
