The world-famous lyricist Pharoahe Monch celebrates the 20th anniversary of debut solo album, INTERNAL AFFAIRS @ Electric Brixton
Widely regarded as one of the best flowing lyrical emcees in the game, Pharoahe Monch released three albums as half of the rap duo Organized Konfusion. But his real stroke of genius before he ventured alone to make his first solo record, Internal Affairs. This album has become known as one of the greatest underground Hip Hop albums ever, prowling from soul-driven melodies on tracks like ‘Queens’ to the crowd-heaving hit ‘Simon Says’, a single which continues to dominate dancefloors.
A New York native, Monch’s creative motivation & output is as consistent as ever, even with 20 years experience in the scene. He continues to make music, receiving a Grammy for his work on the original Miles Davis motion picture soundtrack ‘Miles Ahead’ in 2016, along with releasing three further albums of his own and collaborating with other huge names, from Erykah Badu to Talib Kweli.
“Pharoahe is incredible, and has always been ahead of his time since he came out” – Eminem.
“Pharoahe Monch is like an eloquent linguistics professor moonlighting as a rhyme serial killer terrorist, challenging the listeners’ I.Q. while daring him or her to keep up” – Kool Moe Dee.
