Ghanaian/English recording artist Fuse ODG recently dropped his new track/visual LAZY DAY, featuring Danny Ocean
Musician, activist and Afrobeats pioneer, Fuse ODG returns with his brand new track ‘Lazy Day’ which features Latin superstar, Danny Ocean.
Do you ever have one of those days when you feel like doing absolutely nothing? I imagine a resounding ‘Yes’ is the answer. Fuse distills that feeling and dedicates his new song ‘Lazy’ Day’ to the virtues of having a chilled one with the one you love. No plans, no pressure, just lounging about in comfies, eating and watching trashy tv. Fuse extolling the key message…
“Work hard, rest hard, recharge, then take over”.
‘Lazy Day’ melds West African guitar licks and upbeat syncopated rhythms to create an infectious afrobeat track with global appeal. As well as Fuse, the track also features superstar Venezuelan artist, Danny Ocean, whose massive hit “Me Rehúso” has had over 1 billion streams to date. His verse in Spanish melding with the track’s Caribbean stylings.
Fuse says, ”I wanted this track to be classic Fuse that everybody loves. It’s upbeat, but laidback track about chilling at home, not being bothered by anybody. I like to mix different genres together so wanted to get that cross over between and African and Latin vibes. I’m a big fan of Latin music and as an artist, Danny’s been killing it. One for the whole world to enjoy”.
The accompanying uplifting video is the perfect antidote for the coming winter months. Shot in sunny Miami it features Fuse and Danny having a lazy day with their partners…
Born in London and raised in both Ghana and the UK, Fuse ODG opened the floodgates for the Afrobeats sound with his debut album ‘T.I.N.A. (This Is New Africa)’. Mixing the irresistible rhythms of the original Afrobeat genre with the rambunctious production of grime and a bold pop sensibility. His debut album featured huge hit collaborations with a plethora of stars from all over the world including the Platinum-certified ‘Dangerous Love’ with Sean Paul and ‘Antenna’ with Wyclef Jean. The album cemented Fuse’s status as the pioneer of the Afrobeats sound. In 2018 he got himself Grammy Award for a co-write on Ed Sheeran’s ‘Divide’ album after having invited Ed out to Ghana to come experience the culture.
In 2019 Fuse put on the inaugural T.I.N.A. music festival in Accra marking the launch the ‘Year Of Return’. It featured performances from Fuse, Skepta, Kojo Funds and Stefflon Don, Joey B, D’banj as well as many local West African artists. This was followed by the release of his new album ‘New Africa Nation’ which has further built upon the achievement of his debut and featured guest slots from Ed Sheeran, Damian Marley, Stefflon Don, Sarkodie, and Simi.
All this success has also allowed Fuse to commence a dialogue to present Africa as it really is: a vibrant, scenic and community-orientated continent full of opportunities that’s a world away from how it’s portrayed by the mainstream media. Fuse is passionately engaged in helping African people to spread the word of their culture by prospering in creative endeavours that include a record label, a music festival, a black doll line, and a fashion brand.
