After topping the Drill game, South East London emcee Kwengface opens the door to discovery with the visual to his track SONIC 2, via GRM Daily
Having reached the top of the UK Drill game, Kwengface makes a move which proves his artistry is much bigger than a one-genre lane. Dropping his final record of 2019 it would be fair to expect a thumping 808 drill beat to ricochet from the speakers at the opening drop but Kwengface opens the door to ‘Sonic 2’ with a wavy, afro-swing bounce that highlights him as an artist that is ready for a whole new world to discover him.
Working with Da Beatfreakz who have had the Midas touch on a slew of major chart hits from the likes of Dappy, Deno, Cadet, and AJ, the brother-duo have signed the Peckham rapper to their recently launched label DBF Records. The all-star squad recently made their debut together for the previous release of ‘Twix’ which gained over ¾ million Spotify streams and are following up quick time with the vibrant ‘Sonic’. Marking the release with the premiere of the video on GRM Daily and an exclusive BBC 1Xtra play with DJ Kenny Allstar, Kwengface goes all out in his pursuit to take his music to new levels.
Set on a backdrop of the vast, unspoiled countryside which features drone shots of waterfalls, mountains, and nature, the visuals come in marked juxtaposition to his previous output that has been set in the abyss of concrete jungles. Yet despite the contrasts and changes in sound, style, and sight, the record is still hugely Kwengface.
Bringing all of his engaging presence and impeccable flow, the record is yet another example of his effortless ability as a rapper and a major insight to the unmissable fact Kwengface is a quickly rising star of the UK music scene.
