UK producer Monro teams up with North Carolina based Jalen Santoy for the release of their new track/visual TONGUES, taken off Monro’s forthcoming new EP
Already making waves on both sides of the Atlantic with his talent, multi-faceted UK producer Monro unveils some new heat in the form of his latest single ‘Tongues’ featuring North Carolina’s finest Jalen Santoy.
Seeping in synths, bass, and deep pulsing rhythms, ‘Tongues’ is bouncy and bold with dance flair, plus an unapologetic energy that evolves throughout the song, and is certainly ever-present throughout his catalogue. Jalen’s infectious personality and wordplay lights up the track and is the befitting piece to Monro’s forward-thinking concept.
Speaking on the new single, Monro shared, “’Tongues’ is a really expressive record. I’m proud of it because you can’t compare it to anything – it has so many influences from so many different genres of music. Before anything I’m a fan of Hip Hop, so being able to merge a dance leaning track with Hip Hop whilst still keeping it unique and credible was the goal for me with this song”.
A journeyman when it comes to sonics too, Monro’s inspirations span a wide spectrum of sounds, drawing from Hip Hop, Rock, Pop, and R&B to influence a refined ear for melody and a well-rounded pallet. His rap sheet is a testament, with recent credits on tracks for Jhene Aiko and Rico Nasty, not to mention a slew of cuts on Sinead Harnett’s debut album ‘Lessons In Love’. Monro’s production has become the talk of tastemakers like The Fader, Complex and Red Bull Music,- now he calls on his network of talent for his own work, so you can expect nothing short of more heat to come.
