London, UK based Chase & Status share new single ENGAGE & drop a rave-nostalgic video filmed in London club fabric, taken off their forthcoming FABRIC PRESENTS CHASE & STATUS RTRN II FABRIC MIX, out 30th October, via Fabric Records on Double Vinyl, CD & Digital

Chase & Status share their highly anticipated, explosive and gritty new single ‘Engage’. One of four brand new unheard originals singles from Chase & Status that will feature on their upcoming ‘fabric presents Chase & Status RTRN II FABRIC’ mix, this track features a vocal sample from the Jamaican dancehall artist Shabba Ranks and sonically follows the sound of their critically acclaimed 2019 album ‘RTRN II JUNGLE’.

Dropping alongside the track today is an equally engaging and energizing visual filmed in fabric and directed by Billy Seeberg. Cutting up archive footage from 90s warehouse raves and dancehall events from the late 80s and blending it with freehand shots of the group in the eerie and atmospheric labyrinth maze that is the iconic club fabric, the resulting visual is a thrilling, chaotic, and nostalgia-inducing piece.

Speaking on the video, Billy says, “With ‘Engage’ I wanted to capture the electrifying, physical reaction that Jungle music has on people; regardless of age, background, heritage or lifestyle. As a 19 year old filmmaker, I didn’t live through the 90s when the original pioneers of Jungle were making their first statements in the industry; but nonetheless I have a deep appreciation for the genre and its cultural origins. That is why the video blends archival, oldskool footage with new visuals; it is to represent not only where the music has come from but where artists like Chase & Status are taking it to”.

Out via fabric records on 30th October on CD, double vinyl as well as digitally, Chase & Status join the likes of recent contributors Bonobo, Amelie Lens, Kölsch, The Martinez Brothers, and Maribou State for this incredible quarterly series. Comprised of forty-four tracks for the digital mix and an eight-track double vinyl, Chase & Status have curated just over an hour of uncompromising quality raw, melodic, and energetic Jungle and Drum & Bass tracks including selections from Remarc, DJ Rap, Shy FX, Bou, Wax Doctor, Watch The Ride and more are expertly layered and mixed with exciting forthcoming unreleased original material from the legendary trio including the rowdy and ravey ‘Hardstep’ and the pulsing peak time cut ‘Why’. The exclusives don’t stop there though, further exciting new unheard material includes VIPs ‘Duplate Original’ featuring Kano (VIP) and the euphoric and harmonic roller ‘Breathing featuring Bo Saris (fabric VIP Mix)’, both reworked from previous albums, as well as ‘Retreat2018 ft. Cutty Ranks (RTRN VIP)’ from their most recent body of work ‘RTRN II JUNGLE’. Plus two new unreleased singles from breakthrough Manchester artist Bou called ‘Meditate’ and a VIP of ‘Pub Grub’ with Hedex.

Aptly titled ‘RTRN II FABRIC’, both the moniker and vibe echo their most recent release, the 2019 album ‘RTRN II JUNGLE’ that was widely supported by Mixmag, DJ Mag, Complex, CLASH, The Guardian, The Independent, The Evening Standard, Hunger and more and was heralded as a pivotal release in the scene and wider history of the genre. Transporting nineties jungle into the future, evoking the feeling that was present when the vibrant music first exploded onto the club scene, the album celebrated 15 years of the duo and paid homage to the music and surrounding culture that inspired Will and Saul to set off on their path to glory back in the mid-nineties.
