East London based emcee Berna recently dropped his latest track POPPIN’, produced by Akaali, taken off his forthcoming PLRK EP

Following the release of ‘PLRK’, 21-year-old Berna drops his next single from the project, ‘Poppin’. Leading the way for the new generation, ‘Poppin’ describes Berna’s come up and proves his sights are set sky-high. Produced by Akaali, who has also worked with Mitch, Loski, Jagg, and Mowgs, the duo achieves pure greatness by layering Berna’s distinct flow and poignant lyricism over a storytelling beat. In the artwork which was created by Filmawi Efrem and The Outliers, we see a young Berna gazing into the mirror with his older self reflected back.

Cape Town-born, East London raised, Berna, took to rap after losing his brother 4 years ago and built notoriety from a slew of viral freestyles on platforms such as BlackBox, GRM Daily, and Link Up TV. Growing up he listened to the likes of Skepta, Ghetts, Dizze Rascal, Biggie & 50 Cent, and now draws influences from all genres. Blending the best bits of the UK and U.S. under one roof, Berna has confidently carved out his own lane and sound.

Despite already achieving so much so young, ‘Poor Little Rich Kid’ will be his debut EP and is highly anticipated amongst his peers. The single picked up support from BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra, Capital Xtra, Rinse FM as well as making it onto Spotify’s ‘New Music Friday’ playlist. With the UK Rap scene at an all-time high, Berna has no doubt where he fits into the musical landscape.
