South-East London recording artist & producer Rasstokyo drops his new infectious and thought-provoking track/visual RUBBER BANDS
The catchy yet consciously charged offering is combined with an eye-grabbing visual which shows Tokyo running for Prime Minister while spitting truths about the reality of life in the UK. Adding smooth transitions, rich tones, and vivid colour into the mix, this is another example of why Rasstokyo is one of the most unique artists in the scene right now.
Sonically, ‘Rubber Bands’ deploys a steady, trap beat anchored by the booms and clacks of its bold baseline. Stacking slick stanzas atop, Rass illustrates the tale of a rose growing from concrete; through his witty and true to life subject matter. During the video, the artist gives listeners a lyrical depiction of the double-edged sword handed to those black British, during he details the adversity that comes with 1.
“Trying to make it out the ends.”
And 2. facing discrimination for the nice things he’s acquired, once finally making something of himself.
The artist first flooded the scene as a producer under the alias of Tokyo The Producer, before fixing his attention in front of the mic, singing, and rapping. Soon he would be flowing through our playlists, on to our timelines, and more, with a fluid and genre-less sonic that he brands,
“Water Music”.
Now, he’s looking to make a splash with ‘Rubber Bands’ and an upcoming project, so be careful or you might drown…
