Urban Vault caught up with Brooklyn, New York-based emcee Wais P to ask him some questions about his latest album T.A.P.A.S. 2, & more…

T•A•P•A•S• 2 is the snack before the meal. The next album is on the way, but we are warming you up with this Fish Grease Heat. T.A.P.A.S. is an acronym for ‘To All Player’s And Simps’. This is the second installment of the Wais P T.A.P.A.S. series.

Where are you from?

Crown Heights, Brooklyn, USA.

How long have you been making music?

Recorded my first single ‘Street Life’ on Profile Records in 1996 produced by DJ Clark Kent.

Recently you released your new album ‘T.A.P.A.S. 2’, give us some details about this project?

Tapas in Spanish culture is a small servicing a small plating to speak. I consider ‘T.A.P.A.S. 2’ to be just that. Something without filler all bangers and a small enough serving to have you ready for the full meal the next to go around. T.A.P.A.S. is a series and this is the 2nd installment. T.A.P.A.S. is also an acronym for To All Playas … and Simps. It’s for everyone so soak some game!

Who produced the album and who are the guests featured on it?

I had a few producers contribute to T.A.P.A.S. 2, Statik Selektah did two records, Harry Fraud did a joint, Nicholas Craven & Nef had a joint, and my in-house production crew Team Demo did two as well.

As far as features I only work with people I have relationships with so I brought some friends with me like Termanology, Ras Kass, Nickelus F, Tek, Paul Wall & KXNG Crooked.

Your plans for 2022?

I have two full-length albums recorded one with Dame Grease and one with Deric Angelettie that I’m dying to let loose!!!

Your favorite track at the moment?

Rite now ‘Supafly Snuka’ off my album, tomorrow it may be ‘Captain Phillips’ with Ras Kass.

I think it’s amazing what you are doing over there at Urban Vault UK! Shout out to my London crew and Jack O’Neil. He designed the artwork for T.A.P.A.S. 2 and the ‘Clubber Lang’ single.
