Urban Vault caught up with Jersey City-based recording artist Teewhy G to ask him some questions about his music & more…

Hudson County, New Jersey’s Teewhy G is a Puerto Rican recording artist based in Jersey City who had his start in the New York underground circuit and has rapidly grown his star quality after releasing his debut EP titled ‘No Pressure, No Diamonds’ in August 2021. Following up the 2021 EP release Teewhy G is making waves with his new single ‘Megalodon‘ featuring One Three! The sound of Teewhy’s music can be described as a combination of strong vivid storytelling, heartfelt lyricism, and mainstream party music. Later this year Teewhy plans to release his follow-up project ‘No Pressure, No Diamonds 2’, followed with new visuals, touring both in the states and internationally and continually increasing his social media presence.

What is the Hip Hop scene like in NJ these days?

There are so many talented artists in NJ from mainstream to underground, with the Hip Hop scene specifically majority of artists I know are starving artists, who deserve their just do’s, it inspires me to keep going so I can ultimately take responsibility in making their dreams reality as well.

How long have you been making music?

I started creating music over 10 years ago but professionally I have been putting out music for about a year.

Give us some details on your debut EP ‘No Pressure, No Diamonds’ which came out in the summer of 2021.

‘No Pressure No Diamonds’ was my introduction to the mainstream, it’s only 12 minutes long 5 songs and every song has the potential to be a hit in my opinion. it was one of the first times I ever felt really confident in the product I was pushing and knew this project solidified me entering the next phase of my career.

What are your plans for 2022? Are any new releases in the making?

‘No Pressure No Diamonds 2’ is in the process at the moment I also have a couple of features and visuals coming soon that should really elevate my online presence and career. Can’t give you guys the full playbook but just know we’re working on major opportunities!

What and who inspires you when making music?

Besides my friends and family, I listen to a wide variety of music genres and artists when I’m searching for inspiration but I find listening to my own music inspires me most. I tend to listen to music I created when I first started followed by my latest recordings and hearing the growth within the song structure, writing, beat selection, etc completely fills me with inspiration to keep going. Like MoneyBaggYo said “It’s me Vs me!”.

What do you do when you don´t make music?

Music is my life everything I do always has a benefit to my music career so either I’m learning more about the music business or spending my time in the gym. I love to go on vacation but I’m such a workaholic when it comes to my career my mentality is work now play later!

Whenever I do have some free time though you can catch me on UFC4 online slamming people on their heads 😂.
