Washington DC-based emcee Priest Da Nomad recently released his new eleven-track album RECEIPTS, featuring Blakka P, Tracey Lee, DJ Celo, Wes Felton, DJ Spinna, Nathaniel Star & more…
Priest Da Nomad got his start in the subculture of DC Hip Hop rocking clubs and college parties in 1992, while at the same time dancing for Hip Hop and house music artists. His love for rhyming completely took over and the long arduous journey of becoming one of the most noted emcees, in a city known only for GoGo, soon began.
Priest was one of a number of emcees that embraced the culture of Hip Hop when it wasn’t cool or acceptable to do so in the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia) area. He has released a number of projects since the mid-90s with accolades, articles, and appearances in prominent magazines, newspapers, television shows, etc., but due to timing and his commitment to a certain style of positive soul-driven music, remains an underground, road less traveled artist.
This year of 2022 marks Thirty Years of Priest contributing to Hip Hop culture in the DMV, and felt it necessary to document and audit the culture and his place in it at this time. That audit is presented in this album called ‘Receipts’. It is part history lesson, part love letter, and part renewal of vows so to speak of one man’s unwavering commitment to this culture known as Hip Hop and the people it impacts all over the world.
Ladies and Gentlemen, please enjoy ‘Receipts’.
