Urban Vault caught up with West Palm Beach, Florida-based emcee Pezo MacK to ask him some questions about his recent album and more…
Pezo Mack, a Bronx-born artist who was raised in Florida, has defied the odds and embarked on a remarkable journey in the music industry. His early years were spent within the confines of what he called the,
“Finest Institutions that Florida Corrections had to offer”,
however, it was during this time that his passion for music ignited, leading him to discover his true calling. Expressing himself through music became his medium of choice, whether it involved crafting captivating verses or producing scorching tracks from scratch. Pezo Mack’s life took an unexpected turn when he encountered producer Jim Johnson shortly after his release from prison in 2002. It was Johnson’s authenticity that struck a chord with Pezo Mack, and during their initial conversation, Johnson laid bare his experiences, admitting that he often encountered individuals who believed they possessed the necessary talent to succeed. He promised Pezo Mack that if he truly had what it takes, he would recognize it. Eager to prove himself, Pezo Mack wasted no time in showcasing his skills, spitting a verse with unbridled passion. To his astonishment, Johnson interrupted him before he could finish and offered to record his entire album. Although financial constraints posed a challenge, the mere fact that Johnson was willing to collaborate served as the catalyst for Pezo Mack’s motivation. Fate intervened once again when Pezo Mack reconnected with a childhood friend, known as Stress. Invited into the studio by Stress, Pezo Mack seized the opportunity and together with Eric Rich, Stress’ brother, they embarked on a collaborative journey.
