Minneapolis-based musician and instrumentalist MMYYKK recently released his new track FORBIDDEN FRUIT, ahead of his forthcoming album THE MIDST OF THINGS

MMYYKK, neo-soul’s high priest and acclaimed musician and instrumentalist, releases a new single ‘Forbidden Fruit’, a dark exploration of a relationship that is ending. With breathtaking attention to detail and a sound that ventures beyond categories, ‘Forbidden Fruit’ is full of slick Hip Hop production, choral harmonies, and intricate jazz rhythms that leave you wanting more. The single follows the success of the musician’s earlier releases, ‘U Got Me’ and ‘The Midst Of Things’, the latter of which serves as the lead single off his highly anticipated album of the same name.

MMYYKK shares his thoughts on the single: “‘Forbidden Fruit’ examines the emotional turmoil of being in a relationship that is ending. What do you do when you realise your partner can no longer see you? What do you do with the love you have for them knowing they’re no longer able or willing to receive it? You can’t force love, so at some point, you have to decide to let go”.

MMYYKK’s highly anticipated sophomore album, ‘The Midst Of Things’, will be released independently on 28 July, an album that is forward-thinking and experimental as well as possessing his characteristic soul and groove. The album follows MMYYKK’s acclaimed EP ‘Science’  which came out in 2021 on Rhythm Section Records.
