London, UK-based emcee Fonzie is back with his new six-track VICE CITY EP
After releasing ‘Burners At Brunch‘ and more recently ‘Good Habits‘, Fonzie set forth on providing us with the icing on the cake, which comes in the form of a short EP that he’s titled ‘Vice City‘. The EP is the perfect way to bring together an array of tracks that show his god-given talent, which is the ability to vividly paint his supporters with a clear picture through his careful use of catchy hooks, laid-back flow, and subtle metaphors, that leave you smiling each time you catch the reference!
Fonzie has created a project that can simply be described by one word and that word is nostalgia. Fonzie feels that nothing beats the music that was created during the golden era of Soundcloud. Taking this into account, he wants to create and recreate that feeling that listeners used to hear when pressing play on an EP from artists of that era. In essence, he aims to bring back the familiar feeling of excitement, enjoyment, and appreciation that listeners used to exude.
More importantly, Fonzie wants ‘Vice City’ to be a project that creates some sense of escapism. First, he wants to take the listeners to a place where they feel like they’re leaving the present day and re-entering the time period of the past. Second, he wants the EP to be a vessel for those who need to be transported outside of their current state of mind. Finally, he wants you to escape to the world of Fonzie, where you feel infused into his way of looking at life and more importantly, fall in love with the music, just like he did!
The project was meticulously created and given the overriding sentiment, he thought that it was only right that he sought the talents of the correct producer to bring this vision to life. In light of this, he garnered the talents of the incredible Kaiso who produced all the tracks on the EP and perfectly laid down the canvas for Fonzie’s musical picture.
Once that was achieved he set forth on working with his frequent collaborator Ted Loco who recorded, mixed, and mastered the entire project, something that was extremely important to ensure the EP had that consistent sound throughout. He also reconnected with videographer David Adedero who alongside Fonzie provided the creative direction for the overall visual aesthetic for everything from the promo videos to music videos, in locations like Amalfi Coast, Shooters Hill, and across various West London Locations.
The one thing to do today is to of course give ‘Vice City’ a listen, as this project is a simple reflection of what good music sounds, feels, and looks like and we most definitely don’t want you to miss out!
