Urban Vault Interviews – King BÉ

Urban Vault caught up with Wyoming-based emcee King BÉ to ask him some questions about his latest album release ETERNAL and more…

King BÉ began producing music years ago out of sheer passion, initially writing lyrics without access to equipment. Transitioning to recording over beats crafted by friends using a modest microphone, he soon invested in his own software and microphones, driven by a burgeoning love for music production. Despite early struggles with beat-making, King BÉ’s dedication led him to explore and refine his skills, eventually recording an entire album to chronicle his life experiences. The name King BÉ pays homage to his favorite artists and resonates as a testament to his journey in music.

What is your name and where are you from?

My name is Tyce Bernabeu, I go by King BÉ.
I am located out of Cheyenne, Wyoming, in the United States.

How old are you?

I am 23 this year.

How long have you been making music?

I have been working on music for 4 years now.

How many songs/albums have you released to date?

I have one album released and 3 singles.

Can you tell us about your new album ‘Eternal’, the background, and the inspirations behind it?

My Album ‘Eternal’ is a blend of multiple Hip Hop and pop styles. I wrote the album to capture my experiences at a particularly turbulent point in my life. It deals with a point where I was facing criminal charges, going through a bad breakup, and even struggling with homelessness. It was heavily inspired by both soul singers and introspective rappers I admire.

How have you ended up in the music industry?

I wanted to record songs as an artist, I started by purchasing my first DAW program. However, I started to dabble with production and realized it was something I enjoyed and wanted to become great at. I went on to attend Full Sail University and earned a degree in Music Production as well.

What do you think of the music industry?

I love the music industry overall, I don’t think we’ve had a better era in history where so many styles and genres exist pushing the boundaries of the arts. I love the competitive aspect of it and hope to make my name in it as well.

What have you got planned for the rest of 2024?

I plan on balancing time between working on skills as a producer while simultaneously dropping more singles. I have a couple more songs I’ve been releasing with the most current being a new single called ‘ROID RAGE’.

What inspires you when you make your music?

I like to draw inspiration from artists I admire, I then like to brainstorm and find ways I can take my life experiences and find creative ways to express them. I like to see different deliveries and flows and instrumentals and experiment with my own. I want my work to be unique so I mainly look inward to see what I can deliver. I try to make every song fresh and different from the last as well.

Who have you collaborated with so far in your career?

I’ve worked with a couple of other artists and producers, one by the name of Cody Johnson (not the country superstar) and a popular local artist Omyügen who mixed mastered, and recorded my album.

Who would you like to collaborate with in the future?

Someday I hope to collaborate with artists like Future who I believe to be a genuine pioneer in the field. I’d like to work with other local talent as well, as long as they carry an authentic brand.

What’s your favorite track at the moment?

My favourite track I’ve made is ‘Survive’. It was originally a song I wrote for a school project, I kept most of the chorus and switched the lyrics in the verses and was able to create a genuine soulful record.

What do you do when you’re not making music?

I work for a non-profit as a phlebotomist, I enjoy bodybuilding and boxing and like to stay fairly active. I enjoy traveling and meeting new people.

Which do you prefer, Facebook, X, or Instagram?

I’m mostly active on IG, and TikTok.

In a few words sum up your thoughts about Urban Vault UK and what we’re trying to do?

I’m very grateful to Urban Vault for using their platform and featuring my work, I think they’re a phenomenal publication that helps artists out quite a bit! I think putting a spotlight on smaller artists is a true gift and I’m personally very grateful!

Thank you for your time and may you carry on making dope, fresh music…
