Ground Zero Records presents Shaka Amazulu The 7th & Holy Smokes aka Gen-3’s latest album G3N-3-FIC4T1ON, featuring Buddha Monk, Rubbabandz, Zu Ninjaz, Shogun Assason, Kinetic 9 & more…

The project began with the concept of creating a group to rival Shaka’s other endeavors, such as ‘Chessmen’ with The Black Knights and Illuminati Network with Solomon Childs, Dexter Wiggle, and Napoleon. This time, however, Shaka decided to detach himself from production duties and let another producer handle the beats for the entire project.

Staying true to his tradition of structuring all his projects around a trilogy (knowledge, wisdom, and understanding), he partnered with Holy Smokes and a producer from Spain to work on what would become Gen-3. They completed a full album and were already working on the second installment when the project came to a halt for reasons he won’t go into. Despite the complications, Smokes and Shaka decided to carry on without the Spanish producer.

This led to the birth of Generation 3, a title inspired by the Marvel superhero group Generation X. They say things happen for a reason, and the end of the Gens project sparked a new idea. The album was initially meant to be called Brotherhood of the Wulf, ‘Brotherhood’ representing collaborations with people Shaka’s worked with over the years, and ‘of the Wulf’ signifying that this time, he would keep it all within the Wu-Tang family. One producer, one engineer to mix it, and another to master it, maintaining the project as a trinity. However, BOTW grew beyond the scope of Gen-3, so he reverted to the original idea and reworked the Gen-3 project to fit this new evolution.

The completed album has been revamped into a more cohesive and darker project than its original intent. While every contribution that came through Smokes and Shaka was utilized, the features, sound, and ideas brought by the Spanish producer were all changed.

This time, Shaka took a different approach by co-producing and directing the production, a first for him in any collaboration. He teamed up with the extraordinary producer Su-Preme of Sunz of Man fame, providing the samples, feel, concepts, and ideas, which Preme then interpreted and transformed into finished productions for Series 1 and 2. Trilogy 3 sees less of Preme on board, and production is mainly handled by Shaka Amazulu The 7th.

The original version -GENESIS- of the album is now released as a bonus, as it’s a good project. The first instalment was the beginning of the trilogy. It serves as an EP and a teaser of what’s to come. The second instalment was the complete representation and true definition of Generation 3, and this third and final instalment is the final chapter and closure to this project and group.
