East London’s very own Maxsta and Ipswich native duo Brotherhood combine forces on their first single ‘Own Advice’ taken from their highly anticipated joint EP ‘A12 Link Up’ due to be released on the 25th of September.
The single, which premiered on MistaJam’s BBC Radio 1Xtra show on Saturday (July 4) sees the collaborative trio talk about overcoming their struggles by taking control and taking their own advice.
‘Own Advice’ is the first single taken from the Brotherhood and Maxsta’s joint EP ‘A12 Link Up’ which cleverly refers to the dual carriageway, which directly connects Ipswich (Brotherhood’s Hometown) to the east end of London (Maxsta’s hometown) and highlights the undeniably complementing contrast in musical styles presented throughout the EP. The collaborative project sees an all star line up of producers on the tracks including the likes of Dot Rotten, Rapid, Lumez, Juxta, Lewis Cullen, Krunchi and Zdot, the producer behind the smash hits “Know Me From” by Stormzy and ‘Lukatar’ by Lady Leshurr.
At just 22, the East London lyricist Maxsta has managed to make himself a household name within the UK grime scene. With two UK charting singles, radio play from the likes of Nick Grimshaw on Radio 1 and BBC Radio 1Xtra, millions of hits on YouTube and an impressive list of collaborations, there’s no questioning Maxsta’s work ethic or his mind blowing rhymes.
The Ipswich duo Brotherhood also known as brothers, Menace; 21 and Blaze; 28 have also had their own share of success with both their mixtapes reaching the Hip Hop Top 10 chart on iTunes, seeing ‘Powermoves’ peaking at number 6 and “Love Life Hate The World” at number 4. Having performed to thousands at the Wireless Festival and gained support from the biggest names in the industry with Jamal Edwards MBE being just one of many vocal supporters, there’s no doubt that their collaborative project with Maxsta is set to be the talk of the summer.
