Taya Sophie is a 21-year-old R&B/ Contemporary pop singer-songwriter from Manchester in the UK. Taya started singing from a young age, but did not take singing seriously until she started performing on stage at the age of thirteen.
Growing up Taya had desires of becoming an accountant, but her mind changed quickly has the love she had for music grew. At Sixteen years old, Taya started to explore her music career in Manchester when she performed in different venues regularly around the local area to gain exposure. Throughout this process Taya, has grown and developed has an artist, she has also had the opportunity to perform in several areas around the UK including Manchester Academy and Sheffield 02 academy. With the progression of Taya’s performances, she has supported acts such as Alexander O’Neil, Judy Street and Tommy Hunt. In addition, Taya has also sung backing vocals for artists such as Maverick Sabre, and has also sung in a choir on Coronation Street and Shameless. Through her exposure, Taya has met several artists and producers in the industry. Only at the age of eighteen she was already working with producer Bless Beats, who has recently scored a number 1 hit with tinie Tempah and jess Glynne (Not Letting Go) and also produced Wiley’s number 1 hit (Wearing My Rolex). Taya and bless beats have been able to build a relationship and have worked on a few songs together, a song called ‘Over’ was the most successful song the two have released to date.
Taya Sophie is currently being managed by Lunick Bourgess, a former grime artist who has worked with chipmunk, D’explicit, Random impulse and DJ ironik. Since being taken under management, Taya has been working on her first E.P entitled “Know My Name” with rapper/producer/songwriter Random impulse (Chipmunk, Ed Sheeran, Wretch 32, wiley). This E.P consists of four songs showcasing Taya Sophie’s different vocal abilities. Taya has also recently collaborated with Scrufizzer (Black Butter/ Sony) and Benny Banks (published by Universal).
Since completing her debut E.P, Taya has reached number 17 on the R&B/Soul charts on iTunes purely on pre-orders. Songs from the E.P have also been getting played on radio stations such as Unity Radio, Break London, Dejavu fm, Liberty Radio and Peace fm (Manchester) consecutively over last 10 weeks. Taya’s first official video called (F*cked Up) taken from her E.P was debuted on Link Up TV and has managed to gain over 14k views since its release. The Video directed by Capone (credits include: Chip, Fekky, Benny Banks & stormzy). Taya is currently promoting her E.P by doing a string of shows in London and Manchester.
Taya’s second E.P is already in pre-production and will be released next year.
