Fresh-faced four piece THE AGE OF L.U.N.A take us behind the scenes of their throwback video for ‘Blow Me Away’.
“Imagery wise it’s a very 90’s to early 2000’s inspired vid but has a new edge to it with the UV paint effects near the end” The Age of L.U.N.A. explained, “It was our first video to have a stylist and the stylist was awesome! Filming is always fun, the day was filled with great energy and amazing people. The outfits compliment the setting location makes it look so clean cut”.
The video sees the group on a nostalgic 90’s inspired set playfully dancing to NK-OK’s grooving production and boasting enviable style. Rappers Butch and Kyote interject Daniella’s soulful, honey-laced hook with their conscious yet provocative rhymes, once again demonstrating the lyrical maturity they’re fast becoming known for.
“Filming ‘Blow Me Away’ was such a fun day, I’m still trying to get used to the whole video persona thing. ‘Six Feet Deep’ and ‘Indigo’ were way more ‘off of the back’ and ‘go as we go’ kind of shoots”.
The collective fusion of eclectic influences and their mutual love of 90’s Hip Hop is unmistakable in the latest offering from the West London quartet. Inspiration from NWA, A Tribe Called Quest and Public Enemy, who the band supported at the end of last year, is combined with Daniella’s sultry vocal that draws obvious compassions to Erykah Badu and Jill Scott. ‘Blow Me Away’ has all the nostalgia of the era’s seminal hits.
Having previously garnered the support of BBC Radio1’s MistaJam, DJ Semtex and Huw Stephens and a growing loyal fan base, The Age Of L.U.N.A. continue to demonstrate the ability to create diverse and timeless music beyond their years, forging musicality and consciousness back into mainstream rap music.
