‘7:30‘ is the debut collaboration from New Zealand based super producer, SoulChef, and Seoul’s favorite new rap duo, Part Time Cooks. Part Time Cook’s emcees Saul Goode (U.S.A) & Black Moss (Durban, South Africa) met a few years back in a cypher in South Korea after moving there to temporarily teach English, and since then have taken off in the city of Seoul as its freshest global act.
This project was a truly international endeavor as well. ‘7:30’ hosts a verse from Nucksal, one of the Vis Major soldiers behind the 2016 Korean Hip Hop Song of the Year, ‘Cut Cut Cut’, as well as features from Big Remo & Novej of Saul’s hometown North Carolina. The second half of the cooks, Black Moss, can even be heard dropping bars in Zulu throughout the 12 track LP.
As far as production on the project is concerned Shaun ‘SoulChef’ Hopkins delivered with the smooth, sample based beats his fans have become accustomed to hearing, but was especially adventurous on tracks like ‘Smash Town’, title track ‘7:30’, and ‘Bar Code’, which even features additional guitar from Saul Goode’s pops, jazz guitarist Brad Maiani. In conclusion, PTC and SoulChef met over Facebook messenger just a few months back, and somehow managed to put together a must-hear album from opposite ends of the world that sounds like it was recorded by lifelong collaborators and friends.
“We travel, meet people from other corners of the globe, and connect, all because of Hip Hop music” – Black Moss.
