Cryptic One – The World According To... EP (Audio/Free Download)

Cryptic One is an emcee/producer from Brooklyn, NY that has been making and releasing Hip Hop music for well over 20 years. Over the course of his career, he has produced tracks & remixes for various artists including MF DOOM, Cannibal Ox, Aesop Rock, Blueprint, Illogic, Atoms Fam, and Hangar 18.

‘The World According To…’ EP is the latest FREE collection of songs/verses from this veteran emcee/producer. Comprised of verses that he recorded weekly based on whatever he was feeling that day. He covered diverse topics from current events to politics to the state of music, to slut-shaming, and more. This format of a short EP with short songs will be a new norm for Cryptic to release in between his larger full-length projects to give the fans a more frequent dose of his creativity.

“Over the course of a few months in 2016 I challenged myself to write and record a verse over a self produced beat every week. This EP was the result of that challenge. Some of them became full songs, some stayed a single verse, but they were done regularly and reflected how I felt that day about the world. I cover topics from police brutality (inspired by the news, obviously), Trump, gun control, being an old curmudgeon that hates on kids and their music, the state of Hip Hop, ‘slut shaming’, etc.

I’m planning to do these kinds of releases regularly in between my other ‘larger’ releases, as a way to get more music to you guys more frequently. I hope you enjoy it and please share if you do!” – Cryptic One.

Cryptic has always been known for his cinematic sound, so it’s no surprise that in 2015 he landed his first film scoring opportunity in the form of the critically acclaimed hip hop documentary Adult Rappers. Not only did he produce the original score for the film, but he was also interviewed and featured in the film alongside such talents as Jarobi from A Tribe Called Quest, Bobbito, Masta Ace, Homeboy Sandman (Stones Throw), R.A. The Rugged Man, MURS, Slug (Atmosphere), J-Zone, and many other indy Hip Hop megastars. Last year, he also had the honor of having FACT Magazine name one of his most loved and acclaimed productions, Atoms Family ‘The Prequel’, as 54th on their list of the ‘100 Best Indie Hip Hop Records of all time’.

At present, Cryptic is working on multiple projects, including his first full-length instrumental LP titled ‘Solace in Solitude’, a second project dubbed ‘paloverde’ which has Cryptic on the boards and female vocalist, Poozy of Embarazada & Arrow on the mic, and lastly ‘Pirata’ which will have Cryptic back on the mic over longtime collaborator Jestoneart’s beats.
