Introducing Southampton rap trio DG, who are made up of Yansta, Charlie Snow and Prince, as they debut ‘Gang Them’ – their brand new single and lead track from their long-awaited forthcoming sophomore mixtape – and its accompanying visuals, which has just been premiered via GRM Daily.
Coming on the back of their latest track ‘No Doubt’ which was released in the summer, this new offering ‘Gang Them’ sees the trio collaborating with acclaimed producer and musician Jojo F, who has previously worked with Scorcher, DJ Ironik, L Marshall, and Sony ATV to mention a few.
For the ‘Gang Them’ visuals, DG link up with renowned video director Chas Appeti (Krept & Konan, Wiz Khalifa, Ghetts), to bring the thematic record further to life. Appeti successfully captures the trio in their element, with a wasteland-like visual backdrop serving as the perfect undertone for DG’s ‘Gang Them’ message.
According to the trio, ‘Gang Them’ is “based on DG, it represents us and how far we have come in this music industry. It’s been a hard journey with no help or guidance, but everything we have done has been from the heart, and that’s why we keep going. Like the chorus says, ‘it’s just me and my gang them’ – this song means a lot to us, just because of our journey to get here”.
The trio first emerged on the UK rap scene in 2010 with their debut mixtape ‘Disgusted At The Game’, which garnered DG much traction and support in the South Coast of England, and even led to an appearance in BBC Radio 1’s Charlie Sloth ‘Fire In The Booth – Southampton’ in 2012.
DG returned in 2015 after a brief hiatus with their debut EP ‘Been There Done That‘, which was premiered on DatPiff, and saw the rap trio garner strong support from tastemakers such as BBC 1Xtra, GRM Daily and Link Up TV among others. Their new single ‘Gang Them’ is the first offering from their forthcoming sophomore mixtape, due to be released in 2017.
