Out 1 st December, ‘Tru Thoughts 2017’ is the latest edition of the Tru Thoughts annual label compilation series curated by A&R and co-owner, and respected DJ, Robert Luis who brings together a remarkable selection of the best music to have graced the Brighton-based label in 2017. Paying tribute to 18 years of independently releasing music (which was celebrated with two historic shows at the Brighton Dome and Roundhouse), this compilation highlights a diverse selection of sounds from R&B and future soul through to reggae, dub, jazz, and grime, across 25-tracks encompassing an exciting crop of rising stars from all over the world, alongside some of the biggest and most established names on the imprint.

This exciting release includes; the ethereal soundscapes and woozy Hip Hop beats of self-taught producer and new signing Rhi, the signature style neo-soul and glittering production of LA-based trio Moonchild, a lovers rock rework of San Francisco Bay Area-based band The Seshen from roots and reggae producer Wrongtom, and a dramatic, beat-laden soundscape from Hidden Orchestra’s celebrated ‘Dawn Chorus’ album. Not forgetting the first single from Sly5thAve’s orchestral project dedicated to Dr. Dre’s legacy and co-signed by the man himself, a folk-flavored taste from NY-based Space Captain, and the anticipated return of Glasgow-based producer Werkha, with a track bubbling with eerie yet intriguing beauty. More treats include; another hit from the critically acclaimed fifth album of New Orleans Grammy-Nominated Hot 8 Brass Band and the highly-praised LP from Quantic & Nidia Gongora which has seen praise from Q, PopMatters, and Gilles Peterson, and much more.
