Vancouver-based duo Potatohead People release their new album NICK & ASTRO’S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY, through Bastard Jazz Recordings, featuring Illa J, K-Maxx, Moka Only, Nanna B. and Trian Kayhatu

Counting supporters Soulection, Nightmares on Wax, Pomo, Exmag, Big Boi, Phife Dawg, DJ Spinna, and more, and collaborations with Montreal beats star Kaytrananda, Potatohead People have established themselves as living legends amongst their peers. Comprised of Nick Wisdom and Astrological, Potatohead People have remained relatively quiet over the last three year’s since their critically acclaimed 2015 debut album, ‘Big Luxury.’ Today, the duo are back with their highly anticipated sophomore LP, ‘Nick & Astro’s Guide To The Galaxy.’

Out now via Brooklyn tastemaker label Bastard Jazz Recordings, Potatohead are serving up a 12-track album stacked with collaborators including J Dilla’s brother Illa J, K-Maxx, Anderson Paak and MNDSGN collaborator Nanna B., Kapok, Moka Only, and Trian Kayhatu. With a signature sound that can be described as a J Dilla-esque Hip Hop/future electronic feel, the new album hear’s Potatohead delve into a myriad of genres including classic funk on Kayhatu collaboration ‘Returning The Flavour,’ ultra smooth R&B with Nanna B. on stunning singles ‘Morning Sun’ and ‘Change Of Heart’ featuring Illa J, and 90s Hip Hop flows on ‘All Alone’ with Illa J and K-Maxx. ‘Liftin’ Up’ featuring San Francisco’s K-Maxx ventures into West Coast boogie territories, while the album’s closer, ‘Rituals,’ goes for a deeper more atmospheric electronic vibe. Seamlessly moving between downtempo rhythms, ambient sound, analog synth, organic instrumentation, and more, Potatohead People’s long-awaited return with ‘Nick & Astro’s Guide To The Galaxy’ ushers in an exciting and forward-thinking new chapter in the duo’s evolving discography.

To date, the Canadian duo boasts a number of noteworthy accolades thanks to a series of EP’s, including their 2012 landmark ‘Kosmichemusik‘ EP and pressed 7” which quickly became a collector’s item. Potatohead People’s productions made their way to artists like Illa J who tapped the duo to produce his now critically acclaimed self-titled album, as well as producers like Kaytranada who co-produced Illa J’s ‘Strippers’ with the pair. Illa J album cut ‘All Good Pt. 2’ was featured in EA’ s NBA LIVE 2K16 video game, with other tracks later landing on Netflix shows ‘Bloodline’ and ‘Dynasty.’ Up next for Nick & Astro’s Guide To The Galaxy, stay tuned for additional announcements and forthcoming music video.

“Supporters such as Soulection, Nightmares on Wax, Pomo, DJ Spinna, Big Boi, and Phife Dawg have also played formidable roles in championing the sound of Potatohead People worldwide.” Music Is My Sanctuary.

“This new song is just the perfect relaxing hip-hop vibe to set the tone for your weekend and we highly recommend any J Dilla or Kaytranada fans to check it out.” – This Song Is Sick.
