Can you tell us about your new album, the background, and inspirations behind it?

Venomous2000/Trilian: Well the album is the follow-up album to the first collaboration together. We worked on a few tracks that didn’t make the first album. We decided that we would begin to work on some new material and come out with a 2nd project. The Sounds of the Great One’s idea essentially means that the both of us feel as if our talents, contributions, and catalog should/will propel us into the discussion of being considered 2 of Hip Hop’s best artists. We feel that we are on the cusp of greatness. As far as the album design, we really want to outshine the first album cover which some have considered to be a masterpiece design. We wanted an album cover that would make people look deeper into the meaning behind it. The image symbolizes the greatness of our music. So much so, that intergalactic beings traveling to Earth are in search of Earth’s greatest albums/emcees/producers and THEY begin a search to archive those projects. Our album, along with some of our favorite albums, are being beamed up to these ships to be taken to other galaxies, dimensions, and/or worlds to be cherished. I think people get the point. ‘Sounds Of The Great Ones’ will not only be available as a digital download but also on red vinyl. Therefore you are running a vinyl on demand campaign with Diggers Factory. Tell me more about that.

Venomous2000/Trilian: Yes, our first album campaign was successfully funded by the people. We found out about a company out of Paris that presses vinyl and distributes on behalf of the artist. The Artist gets to choose the length of their campaign, and if successfully funded, the company will press and ship the vinyl to those people that pre-order the album. As an independent artist, and having experience of pressing up our own records and pushing them independently worldwide, it is not an easy task. This also eliminates the need to press up extra records that sit for years and years. Through Diggers Factory, we’re able to focus our records primarily to the people that are interested in picking up a limited edition run. As long as we’re able to get people to pre-order, we’ll be able to press our record. We thought the red wax looked great and accentuated the album design lovely! We need more people to pre-order. More diggers and more supporters. We have about a month left to campaign.

Who have you collaborated with so far in your Career?

Trilian: Well, there were hundreds of collaborations in my music career. Most noticeable is with AOTP members, some WU Thang members were included also in a couple of my projects, Madchild, Diabolic, Killah Priest, Cella Dwellas, Joell Ortiz, Chino XL, The Artifacts, Tha Soloist, DJ TMB, C Rayz Walz, Reks, Shabaam Sahdeeq, Recognize Ali, Kareem Musik, Woodlawn Warriors, Rated R, Dylan James and many more…

Venomous2000: So far in my career I have collaborated on songs with Inspectah Deck (Wu-Tang Clan), The Artifacts, Phonetic and Nalm Myerz, Next Philosophy, Delinquent Soundz, Respect Tha God, MASSACR, Moka Only, Septo, Fel Sweetenberg, Napoleon Da Legend, Racecar, Dominque Larue, The Cella Dwellas, Smif-N-Wessun, C-Rayz Walz, Mr. Green, Pumpkinhead (RIP), Cymarshall Law, Scienz of Life, LifeLONG, Constant Flow, One Blood Universal Tribeca, King Magnetic, Shabaam Sahdeeq, Tiye Phoenix, 9th Prince, Reks, NLZ War Machine, Mr. Fickle, and some more that I can’t name off the top of my head.

Who would you like to collaborate with in the future?

Trilian: Would like to work with some local emcees like Mikri Maus and Bvana, also would love to work with some Stones Throw artists, I would love to make that happen haha.

Venomous2000: I have Black Thought, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, MF Doom, Pete Rock, Premo, Black Milk, Moods, Krs-One, Lupe Fiasco…some others.

What inspires you when you make your music?

Trilian: Some green, present mood, and my life situations.

Venomous2000: Just the mod of the music really. I write what the beat tells me to. It’s like it’s talking to me when I’m zoning out

How have you ended up in the music industry?

Trilian: There was a couple of my friends who started writing and recording some songs, back in the days, so I ended up with a pen and a paper too,I was an emcee first and it was really hard to find proper beats at that time, so I started making my own beats with a simple midi keyboard and with no knowledge at all…after a couple of years I realized that I am way better at beatmaking and mixing than with emceeing, so I quit rapping and continue making beats only till this day.

Venomous2000: I’m still growing, learning, and trying to leave my mark. I’m not done and haven’t really started yet. That’s even after 20 years of making music. The industry is an entirely different monster!.

What do you think of the music industry in 2018?

Trilian: Its a chaos and there’s a real lack of quality in music these days than in the past in the mainstream music industry, that’s all because of money. Thank GOD there is underground music which still has a lot of potential and great music, and its still growing.

Venomous2000: It’s a lot more congested than the Parkway in New Jersey. Lots of competition. Lots of distractions. Lots of people out to take advantage. I just try to maintain some sort of humility, but aggressive approach to making music and connecting with people. I don’t think the industry has changed much over the course of time. The one thing that has grown though is the AMOUNT of money circulating in the market is astounding.

What have you got planned for 2018?

Trilian: Music wise…probably an instrumental album and allot of collaborations with international and local artists. I’m highly motivated to make new music than ever before, since I got some recognition in the underground movement.

Venomous2000: Can’t speak about it too much, but I have work with Chinch 33, LoopHoles, and my man DJEndK & Mansha in the works. If I’m able to get out to Serbia this summer, Trilian and I plan on working on SOTGO3!

What’s your favorite track at the moment?

Trilian: hmmm…I have favorite tracks for every week haha, well….at this moment maybe & Large Professor – Opulence and Emcees Ultra from our new album SOTGO2.

Venomous2000: ‘Let Go’ off the new album. I love that song!

What do you do when your not making music?

Trilian: Playing basketball, taking care of my big garden haha and hanging with my friend, family, and my pets. Music is my love and my regular work, so basically, I’ll do music every day as a full-time job.

Venomous2000: I am a full-time teacher (8th Grade Social Studies), full-time father, and part-time photographer!

Facebook or Twitter?

Trilian: Facebook

Venomous2000: Facebook. I don’t really like Twitter much.

In a few words sum up your thoughts about Urban Vault and what we’re trying to do?

Trilian: A great place to collect all the latest news about music. Appreciate your time for this interview.

Venomous2000: I think bringing exposure to us individuals in the Underground is an integral part of having this Hip Hop culture grow. This is ESSENTIAL!

Thank you for your time and may you carry on making dope, fresh music…
