UK Afrobeats Producer SmartBeatz & Afrobashment’s Rising Star RaysMuzik team up for their new Single, DON’T GO

Fresh from announcing the upcoming release of his highly anticipated debut mixtape ‘Certified’, and releasing its first single ‘Tell Me’ featuring Yemi Rush, which has been championed by TRACE, Okayafrica and One Tribe Magazine, among others, UK Afrobeats super producer Smartbeatz circles right back with ‘Don’t Go’ featuring South London Afrobashment artist RaysMuzik, the second single from ‘Certified’, which premiered on Complex.

Coming on the back of his latest single ‘8EEN’, and recent support from The FADER, Complex, BBC 1Xtra, and Rinse FM, to mention a few, and while he gears up for his first solo offering of the year, rising star RaysMuzik has joined forces with the burgeoning production powerhouse SmartBeatz to deliver what might just be the UK Afrobeats summer jam of 2018 with ‘Don’t Go’.

Backed by lush drums and percussions, infectious synth bass and string arrangements, with an exquisite electric guitar solo bubbling in the latter half of the record, and held together by RaysMuzik’s glorious vocal performance and captivating flow and delivery, ‘Don’t Go’ is an excellent feel-good dance ready tune that is sure to leave its mark among UK Afrobeats audiences this summer.

Speaking about how ‘Don’t Go’ came about, SmartBeatz says, “I sent RaysMuzik the instrumental as he was about to leave a studio session, and as he tells the story, I said to him, ‘don’t go without recording the hook at least’. Apparently, he latched onto the words ‘Don’t Go’ and formed the chorus of the song around that. Once RaysMuzik laid his vocals, I sent the record to Larry D, who added some live electric guitars to the record, and brought it further to life”.
