Urban Vault Interviews - NINE (Double M)

Urban Vault Interviews – NINE (Double M)

Urban Vault caught up with Bronx rapper Nine (Double M) to ask him some questions about his latest release KING and more…

Nine (Double M) is back! Goon MuSick is proud to announce the brand new studio album by Nine produced entirely by the Snowgoons entitled ‘King’ to hit the streets 9/9/2018.

For those who are not familiar with the name Nine give us a brief history of your career so far?

I was signed to Profile Records. Put out two albums there ‘Nine Livez’ and ‘Cloud 9’. Which included ‘Whatchu Want’, ‘Any Emcee’, ‘Lyin King’. Then Profile sold the company to Arista Records, it took me five years to get away from them.

What have you been up to over the years since your last release ‘Cloud 9’ in 1996 and why did you disappear for more than 20 years?

After the debacle with Profile Records I fell out of love with the business… lost confidence in myself I thought maybe my time was up and realized I was chasing a check. I was very bitter, I had to fall back in love with it and learn how it evolved.

On the latest Snowgoons album, you made your comeback on the track ‘Bringing Back The 90s’. How did that come together and what was it like joining the game again after all these years?

Well, I would not call that a comeback because I have had projects out since 2009. I had ‘Quinine the Overseas Shipment’ album also some mixtapes. We were rebuilding my online presence. That’s how hooked up with the Goons. They contacted me and there was a synergy between us, we moved on from there, we just took it and ran with it.

Tell us more about your new album ‘King’?

The album is out on September 9th. Definitely my best work to date, super proud of it and super excited.  That’s all I’m going say. They will find out September 9th.

Can we expect any features/guest appearance?

Yes, ‘King’ will feature collabos with Kool G Rap, Smoothe Da Hustler, Ruste Juxx, Conway The Machine and Chris Rivers.

The project is entirely produced by the Snowgoons. What was it like working with them?

It’s great working with people who are as hungry as you are and have a love for the culture first and foremost and I believe we brought the best out of each other.

What can fans expect of the record?

Not to sound cocky, but greatness.

What are your expectations on the album and what are your plans for the future?

No expectations… cause that is a set up for a disappointment.  This is art and any artist wants their work to be received, appreciated and supported.

Anything else?

Living!

Any upcoming tours to promote ‘King’?

In the works.

This summer a rift has popped off on social media between Kid Capri and Funkmaster Flex. Working together with Flex back in the days, what are your thoughts about that?

It’s Hip Hop it is supposed to be competitive.

What do you think of the music industry in 2018?

The industry is horrible; the music industry participates in the feminization of black men, the miseducation of youth, destruction of the Hip Hop culture and discourages free enterprise.

What do you do when you are not making music?

I read and write a lot.

Facebook, Twitter or Instagram?

Instagram!

In a few words sum up your thoughts about Urban Vault and what we’re trying to do?

Urban Vault is supporting real Hip Hop obviously because you’re talking to me. Salute to you guys for that!  Keep up the good work.

Thank you for your time and may you carry on making dope, fresh music…

Thank you for reaching out and the early support is appreciated!
