FULL MOON IN ARIES is the highly anticipated sophomore album by South London musician Roxanne Tataei released independently today!

It follows her critically acclaimed debut album ‘Memoirs’ and an extensive period of touring worldwide, supporting the likes of Grace Jones and Florence & The Machine. ‘Full Moon In Aries’ has been four years in the making, and the eclectic, evocative sound she embodies in it showcases this labour of love distinctively.

Recorded everywhere from the makeshift DIY recording studio of her kitchen in Streatham, South London – to the lush hills and Blue Mountains of Kingston, Jamaica, and encompassing her travels across Paris and Berlin, the worldly, cosmic sound she creates inhabits everywhere and nowhere.

‘Dancing with the Devil’ is a delicately built track, where Roxanne’s filtered vocals muses on the ecstasy of doing something you know you shouldn’t do, but you do it anyway. Lead single ‘Crimson Eyes’ has trip-hop inspired production foregrounded by Roxanne’s powerful vocals she explains the track is about,

“Unmasking true intentions, agendas and motives, lifting the veil and staring the ‘crimson eyed’ monster straight in the eye”.

The album is interspersed with intimate interludes from a spiritual reading that gives insight into Roxanne’s artistic process and life journey up until this moment, the record is immersed in a deep and abiding sense of spirituality. The aptly titled ‘Full Moon In Aries’ marks itself as a turning point for Roxanne, welcoming this change as a time of rebirth, regeneration, transformation and the next stage of life.

Roxanne’s versatility shines through in the soulful, psychedelic sound she crafts, inspired by artists from Outkast, Adrian Younge, Massive Attack, Gnarls Barkley to Jimi Hendrix.

She says of her influences,

“I’m very grateful to all my inspirations. Those black artists creating cosmic, transcendental art, that evoke every sense and emotion. They showed me there are so many beautiful ways to be black”.

Roxanne co-produced tracks with new collaborators including Nick Trepka (Emmy The Great), Grammy award-winning producer Al Shux (Lana Del Rey, Alicia Keys) and NTS maverick Lord Tusk (Mos Def, Dean Blunt). As well as visuals created DIY with the collective support of her close-knit South London community. The video for lead single ‘Crimson Eyes’ was the directed by Hamed Maiye, watch the video here. ‘Full Moon In Aries’ will is released fully independently and funded wholly by herself – more expressive, exploratory and emancipated than ever before.

Roxanne says of her new album,

“This album is my personal account of the human experience, trying to find balance in both the human and spiritual world, and all the complexities we come across when trying to navigate it”.

Describing her new music as the lovechild of Minnie Riperton and Stevie Nicks by way of South London, the vital ‘Full Moon In Aries’ marks the definitive arrival of Roxanne Tataei.
