Laolu – So Right (Music Video/iTunes/Spotify)

South East London based artist & musician Laolu recently released the music video for her latest single SO RIGHT

Following its audio premiere with EARMILK to rave reviews from fans and critics alike, and on the back of recent support from Spotify, Clash Music, BBC 1Xtra, PRS For Music, The Line Of Best Fit, Nation Of Billions, and Noctis Magazine, among others, South East London singer, songwriter and musician Laolu is excited to unveil the brand new music video, as premiered via Popdust, for ‘So Right’, the third and final single from her forthcoming ‘All In Me’ EP.

Directed by Laolu and Marcus Hessenberg, who has previously worked with Nadia Rose, Vogue, JaJa Kisses, BBC, Channel 4, and the MOBO Awards, the ‘So Right’ video sees Laolu basking in the sun in her neighbourhood in South London, taking inspiration from the carefree nature of some of her favourite pop music videos, including Lion Babe’s ‘Jump Hi’ and Beyonce’s ‘Hold Up’.

In sharp contrast to her two previous music videos for ‘All In Me’ and ‘How To Feel’, which were dark, moody and intimate affairs, the visuals for ‘So Right’ jumps out at you from the start, with its bright and expansive colours, which bring the song further to life. The video is also the most carefree and open that we have seen Laolu in recent times, beautifully mirroring the infectious and uplifting feeling of the single.

Speaking about the inspiration for her ‘So Right’ video, Laolu says,

“I liked the carefree elements we tried to capture in the video. It was very cathartic for me, walking in the sun, and just being content and happy, and enjoying being free of any constraints or negativity. It allowed me to really be in the present and be in the moment of now, and relish this new lease of confidence I have as a black woman”.

Expanding on what the video especially means to her, Laolu goes on to add,

“I enjoyed this video, it was out of my comfort zone, walking and dancing and enjoying the music, it was empowering and I hope this video will put people in good spirits, up and dancing too. It’s a feel good song, celebrating love, light and happiness. I’m celebrating myself, what I’ve overcome and looking forward to where I’m headed”.
