LAOLU – BUFFERING (Music Video) Taken Off: All In Me EP (iTunes/Spotify)

London based singer/songwriter LAOLU recently dropped the visual to the track BUFFERING, taken off her critically acclaimed debut EP, ALL IN ME

On the back of her critically acclaimed debut EP ‘All In Me’, which was released last year, as part of a career-defining comeback year, culminating in strong support from tastemakers such as BBC 1Xtra, Clash Magazine, The Line of Best Fit, Spotify, Gal-Dem, Popdust and Noctis Magazine, among others, South East London singer, songwriter and musician LAOLU is back with the brand new music video for ‘BUFFERING’, one of the fan-favourites from her well-received ‘All In Me‘ EP.

With over 100,000 streams on Spotify alone, ‘BUFFERING’ stands as one of the most popular songs on Laolu’s ‘All In Me’ EP, with fans clamoring for accompanying visuals for the track. The anticipated music video for ‘BUFFERING’, was shot on location at the beautiful Red Rock Canyon State Park, just outside Los Angeles, and sees Laolu collaborating with burgeoning filmmaker YHELLOW, to deliver an artistic visual depiction of Laolu trying to find her way out of the ‘BUFFERING’ stage of her life.

According to Laolu, “We used mirror imagery to give the viewer an idea of the mental torment that one can go through. YHELLOW used a long piece of fabric to symbolize the constraints of the world and my struggle to break free. At first, the fabric would be tight and as I moved, it would loosen, until I was finally free of it, this would symbolize me breaking free from the cycle and finally moving forward. We didn’t really want a performance video as we wanted the imagery to speak for itself”.

Speaking about how the song itself came about, LAOLU says,

“I wrote ‘BUFFERING’ around the time I was battling out of depression, I had just written ‘All In Me’, and was recording music again, but I had relationship drama, was feeling insecure and was not 100% yet. I felt my efforts to get back to my normal or just move forward, we’re going nowhere, and nothing seemed to be going right. I wrote this song to vent my frustrations, and just pour out all that I was feeling at the time”.
