Urban Vault Interviews – Scandalated

Urban Vault caught up with Amsterdam, The Netherlands based emcee/label CEO Scandalated to ask him some questions about his music & more…

Scandalated has been busy with making rap music and writing lyrics for a long time. In 2002 Scandalated started his own label KB Records, he also started a studio so he and his friends could record anytime they wanted to. Years passed by with a lot of releases from the label and dope collabs with several artists. Through the year’s KB Records became Scan Music Records. In 2016 Scandalated dropped a video named ‘Renegades’ which was produced by DutchFlower, the main purpose of this track was to draw attention to the situation from refugees, to create awareness… Now Scandalated is about to drop a new EP named ‘Stories Of A Grown Man’ also produced by DutchFlower.

What’s your name?

Scandalated

Where are you from?

Amsterdam / The Netherlands

What’s the Hip Hop scene like in the Netherlands?

The Hip Hop scene in the Netherlands is still growing, the new generation is now emerging and is still hungry.
There are different movements of Hip Hop in the Netherlands. You have Dutch Hip Hop, which has been on the rise in recent years, but you still have the English-speaking emcees who are still doing their thing.

Tell us more about your upcoming EP ‘Stories Of A Grown Man’?

The EP is based on awareness, what is happening in the world now.

Who have you collaborated with so far in your career?

I have worked with dope artists like DutchFlower, for me also one of the dopest producers in the scene, I have also done dope projects with Maikal X, Sugacane, and Kalibwoy to name a few.

Who would you like to collaborate with in the future?

With anyone who loves making music.

What inspires you when you make your music?

It starts with the vibe between the producer and me, it has to be naturally good, the trust has to be 100, what is going on in the world is also a great source of inspiration, everything around me can inspire me, the Hip Hop legends. But music in general also remains a great source of inspiration.

How have you ended up in the music industry?

By grinding my ass off and connected with the right people!

What do you think of the music industry in 2020?

Music always remains connecting whether it is old school or music from 2020, the approach is
now only different due to the youtube / social media marketing I find a Kendrick Lamar dope, Joyner Lucas, Dave East, artists of this era.

What do you do when you’re not making music?

Spending time with the family.

Facebook or Twitter?

Facebook, don’t mess with Twitter

Tell us what you think about Urban Vault?

It’s Dope that regional artists, as well as urban artists from abroad, get ‘exposure’. A good way to stay up to date with what is going on in the urban music scene .. Especially in a time like we live now, it is important that music keeps connecting.

Thank you for your time and may you carry on making dope, fresh music…
