London, UK based producer MODEL 86 drops their latest project titled MODELVILLAIN EP (MODEL 86 x MADVILLAIN)

Faceless producer MODEL 86 didn’t get the memo about genres, refusing to be pigeonholed, they make unconventional alt-beat electronic music that merges the glistening beats of Jamie xx with the luxurious expanses of Hudson Mohawke. Misfit MODEL 86’s shapeshifting sound has already caught the attention of tastemakers with a diverse set of influences ranging from Flume to MF DOOM, 90’s golden era Hip Hop to PC Music’s Sophie. They can take a single vocal hook or sample and spin it into an atypical, electronic odyssey that you’ll struggle to forget.

In the build-up to their upcoming album ‘Is MODEL 86 Dreaming of Being a Butterfly or is a Butterfly Dreaming of Being MODEL 86?’, MODEL 86 has dropped the first in a series of bootleg remixes entitled ‘MODELVILLAIN’. The EP of remixes of the MF DOOM and Madlib collaboration album ‘Madvillainy’, sees MODEL 86 letting loose and working with an artist they have always wanted to work with.

“It’s pretty liberating to try stuff out, messing around and juxtaposing or expanding sounds/palettes” they explain, “and it’s interesting to discover what a song could be, and trying to make something awesome in a way that was never intended”.

The culmination of a trilogy of EPs, ‘Is MODEL 86 Dreaming of Being a Butterfly or is a Butterfly Dreaming of Being MODEL 86?’ is the upcoming album from the enigmatic producer, MODEL 86. Over the past 6 months, MODEL 86 has slowly been releasing music, demonstrating the eclectic nature of the upcoming record, and capturing the artist in a full creative flow.
